Seoul Photographic Art Museum

Seoul, South Korea (2019) - Competition proposal

The design for Seoul Photographic Art Museum assembles a series of distinct programmatic volumes into a unified sculptural composition that reflects the layered spatial logic of the museum’s curatorial programme. Solid blocks housing gallery and learning spaces are carefully balanced to define interstitial voids that bring natural light deep into the building and guide visitor circulation. Inspired by the compositional principles of photography, the design treats light and shadow as spatial material and frames them through textured, light-reactive exteriors and calm, controlled interiors. The result is an architecture attuned to the medium it celebrates: precise, immersive and quietly expressive.
